Climb that does get spicier once the forest starts and pulls on for a while. Bike path is in good shape, but busy car traffic does spoil the fun. Better grab a nicer and quieter climb nearby, such as the parallel climb from the hamlet of Viel to Doenrade. Funny detail: just before the forest, you pass 2 light poles alerting you that you are cycling over the Feldbissbreuk, which was at the origin of mining in South Limburg, as well as the local earthquake in 2002.... read more

Peaceful climb on a concrete bike path along a wide through (but not too busy) road. Not very inspiring and it takes a long time before the climb becomes a real climb. There are much nicer alternatives in the immediate vicinity.

Not exactly a climb where you do it for. There is a nicer option to cycle from Jabeek to Doenrade. At the roundabout take the Groeneweg towards Bingelrade and at the end of the road continue on the Winkelpaadje (left of crucifix) and Viel. This also brings you to Doenrade. Another possibility is to cycle via the German Hillensberg to Doenrade. Because of the climb in Hillensberg also worthwhile.
