Dlouhé Stráně from Loučná nad Desnou

This is the more challenging side of Dlouhé stráně. For most of the climb, you’re hidden in the forest — which is probably why this side wasn’t used in the Czech Tour race (they preferred more scenic helicopter shots!).

The road surface is good throughout, and it actually gets better the higher you go. The local high point is right by the wind turbine, offering fantastic views. On the short downhill section that follows, there’s a spring with cold, drinkable water — a perfect place to refill your bidons!

You’ll finish at the upper reservoir. Officially, access is restricted, but in practice, the rules are fairly relaxed.

Fabulous climb and definitely one not to be missed if you're anywhere in the region. Overall excellent surface, plenty of shade from the trees and zero traffic. From 5.4km to 8.4km is the real work with the gradient frequently hitting mid teens for a moment. As with all mountains the weather is pot luck, we got unlucky with the clouds but even so the climb was still a joy to ride.

Truely must do climb. You will get amazing reward on the top. The view is exceptional. Dlouhé Stráně dam is technical wonder in Czech republic, so you will really receive special experrience on the top of mountain. The route from Loučná is absolutely calm, prohibited from car traffic, mostly in the forest, and all with good tarmac. And you can use alternate route (unfortunately missing here on climbfinder) for going down.

One of the best climbs in the Czech Republic. There are two separate routes to the top. This one is closed for car traffic and is mostly narrow (2-3 meters wide) so you almost never meet people going down this route. You can use the other route (a public road for cars) for descending fast (really wide with a perfect surface).
At the top, there is a parking place with a coffee stand (they also offer some basic food).
