As the profile shows, it is ridiculously steep to begin, the second you leave the main road. A very narrow, obscure road. I was unfit at the time and had to briefly stop (which is completely against my religion). At the T junction on top you can go across via gate on to a rough track, then join an easy track to the pass at Trawsfynydd 401 metres, which becomes tarmac for the following descent. Or else you could just turn left and view the stunning lakes.
