Nice climb that rides smoother than the steeper east side. You ride more through forest landscapes along this side.
On this side the climb is longer and a little easier at the end, but the path is in very poor condition.
At the top there is a restaurant, but above all there is a magnificent panorama and if the weather permits, you can see the paragliders take to the skies at close quarters.
Like any iconic climb, this one has something special at the top namely the mast that you can spot from afar. Crossing the little river Le Burnot, you start the winding climb on rough but ok tarmac. The percentages are a bit less pronounced than its brother the east side. After briefly crossing this other side you start the last part of the climb on very poor surface, however, climbing well on a normal road bike. Don't forget to take a look at the view a bit further up the summit!
Nice climb, with the first few switchbacks almost reminiscent of a mountain road. Good quality surface on the first part, with little traffic. The second part is much harder, with a narrow road (be careful when crossing with cars coming down, fortunately they are usually very friendly with bikes). And superb view of the whole upper Meuse valley if you get off the bike and walk to the paragliding take-off point!
