Done it as a descent today, and it was super! Provided you avoid that steep part with the bad tarmac as Jeroen describes. This can easily be done by taking the track with the two hairpin bends that runs parallel to it. Also as an ascent I would do it this way. Much nicer!... read more

A fun climb to include in your route. There are tough sections in between that really challenge you. Unfortunately, the road surface is not good everywhere

The Côte de Xhoris is an ideal climb to die for. The beginning is not too steep. You see the road in front of you and it shows the gradient well. But once you have left the village, there is a steeper part. When I see such a climb, I choose a gear and don't come back from it. The choice is important: if you choose too big, you can still downshift on the steep part but you might be out of breath from what you delivered before. If you choose too small, you may still be able to do well, but you won't be able to downshift. Choose wisely! By the way, there is a nice descent in the direction of Hamoir: few curves, a big road but with limited traffic and just steep enough not to have to push.

The Côte de Xhoris has nothing to offer, but certainly nothing against. It is not a terrible climb, but also not very beautiful. The climb starts in the village where the road surface is poor. Outside the village it becomes a nice middle section on new asphalt. This is the best part of the climb. The end of the climb has lousy tarmac where you are treated to sections above 10%.
The climb is mainly on a wide road where sometimes people drive fast. It is not very busy there. All in all, a nice little climb if you want to continue in the direction of the southern climbs near Aywaille.
