Beautiful long climb, you can start at the bottom of the coast. The start has fairly heavy traffic but there is a partial cycle path. At the roundabout, you can choose between the route through the village and the busier route to the motorway. The route to the motorway is busier but less steep because you go underneath it. Once you have passed the petrol station there is a little less traffic but faster. From the roundabout with the exit to Competa starts the really nice and quiet climb.

This climb can be combined nicely with the climb from Nerja to Frigliana. Continue cycling through Frigliana and later descend to Torrox, pick up this climb to Competa and then descend again from Competa to Algarobba Costa. In total, this will give you a ride of over 1200 altimeters on fairly quiet roads. The descent from Competa to the sea is nice and wide asphalt and looks like a highway with hairpin bends.
