The climb starts out friendly, but soon turns to gradients in the double digits, with hefty sections of 13% or more. The tarmac is reasonable and the forest offers partial shelter from the sun. The climb seems to end at the little church in Piatta Soprana, but continues into the almost deserted hamlet of Colleto.
The descent towards Montemale is on fairly good tarmac.
