Beautiful climb, gradients never prohibitive, done on a Sunday in October very few cars The descent to Almese should be done with great caution due to the constant uphill traffic, absolutely avoid public holidays. Asphalt not in great condition

Of the two ascents to the LYS, this is the one I like best. It's an easy climb, rideable and with gentle gradients.
Apart from the first little piece, after the very first kilometres the road becomes quiet and pleasant, all through the forest.
There is a bit of traffic, especially on weekends.

Not a particularly difficult climb apart from the first stretch up to Colle San Giovanni then continuous ups and downs to the pass, ideal for finishing laps coming from the Lanzo valleys

Done to complete the tour at Lake Malciaussia. Not a particularly demanding ascent in a beautiful setting.
Beautiful views but nothing exceptional
Very popular with motorbikes at weekends
I left my car outside the village of Lanzo (plenty of parking facilities)
There are water fountains in the villages along the road.
The restaurant is always open on arrival.

Il ristorante è sempre aperto all'arrivo.

The Colle del Lys is a beautiful climb! The climb starts nice and hard, but as from the village of Col San Giovanni it starts to slow down. Put your head there under the fountain and enjoy a few quiet climbing kilometers. The last two kilometres are a bit steeper, but that never becomes too hard.
The surroundings are beautiful and most of the time you climb in the shade of the forest. Now and then you are treated to increasingly beautiful views. I have not had much trouble with traffic, but there were many motorcyclists. At the top of the climb there is a restaurant for those who need something tasty.
I would like to draw your attention to the danger of the descent. The roads are really Italian: one moment fantastic, and the other moment full of potholes. If you know this it is easy to do.
