The first part of the climb up to Tàrbena is the best. Really lovely climbing with occasional beautiful passages through pine forest. At Tàrbena, you turn left and ride with views of the southern side of Coll de Rates. After that, it gets a bit less beautiful. And especially a bit more irritating, because very irregular: bits downhill, bits steep.

This is a fine little climb that in any other region would be praised upwards. Here this climb has so much competition from nicer or more technical climbers that this climb is a bit snowed under. The road surface is good, little traffic and nice views on the rocky hills around. The climb has a nice spicy ending with a final stretch around 12%. The climb is marked with kilometre signs all the way with the maximum gradient for the next kilometre.
