This pass links the Tinée and Vésubie valleys.
From Saint Sauveur, it's a fine descent past two Maginot Line forts.
Then the ascent begins, never very difficult but long enough to wear you out.
The scenery is pleasant, but after La Couillole, it becomes a little more demanding...
Quite a lot of traffic on this good road.
Lots of motorcyclists.
At the top, once you've reached La Colmiane and therefore the Col Saint Martin, there's a dreadful esplanade that encourages you to descend very quickly to the other valley.
The arrival at Saint Martin de Vésubie is quite shocking: the after-effects of storm Alex are striking.
A magnificent, battered valley trying to heal its wounds. Everywhere you look.
The French government and insurance companies are clearly not up to the task.
Ce col relie la vallée de la Tinée à celle de la Vésubie.
Depuis Saint Sauveur, une belle descente avec deux forts de la ligne Maginot.
Et puis, l’ascension commence, jamais très difficile mais suffisamment longue pour user.
Les paysages sont plaisants mais après la Couillole, on est devenu un peu plus exigeant…
Pas mal de circulation sur cette bonne route.
Beaucoup de motards.
En haut, une fois parvenu à La Colmiane et donc au col Saint Martin, une affreuse esplanade qui incite à descendre bien vite vers l’autre vallée.
L’arrivée à Saint Martin de Vésubie est assez bouleversante : les séquelles de la tempête Alex sont saisissantes.
Une magnifique vallée meurtrie qui tente de panser ses plaies. Partout présentes.
L’Etat français et les compagnies d’assurances ne sont manifestement pas à la hauteur.
A must if you're in the area. The region is absolutely magnificent and a cyclist's paradise.
The descent to St-Martin de Vésubie is well worth the diversions, but beware, it is narrow in places and relatively busy.
A enchaîner si vous être dans le coin. La région est absolument magnifique et un paradis pour cyclistes.

Nice even climb.
It was in one of the first stages of the Tour de France in 2020, which departed from Nice under the name Col Colmiane (the climb itself says Col Saint-Martin.
I thought it was a good warm-up for things-to-come.
That day I rode the cancelled stage of the Étape du Tour on GPS with afterwards the Col de Turini and Col d'Eze.

Hij zat in 2020 in één van de eerste ritten van de Tour de France, die vertrok vanuit Nice onder de naam Col Colmiane (op de klim staat zelf Col Saint-Martin.
Ik vond het een goede opwarmer voor things-to-come.
Ik reed die dag de geannuleerde rit van de Étape du Tour op GPS met nadien nog de Col de Turini en Col d'Eze.
Leuk om te doen als je in de omgeving bent.
