Vicious climb that hurts a lot especially in the first kms. The many hairpin bends do make it a bit more pleasant. At the top you can continue unpaved to Col du Lein. Highly recommended!
Aanrader!
Very tough first kilometre, where the gradient is well into the double digits. After that, it slows down a bit, but it doesn't get any easier. Only towards the end does the climb become a bit wavy, steep alternating with (almost) flat. Meanwhile, you have a beautiful view, so definitely recommended!
Col des Planches, the Col runs from Martigny at 471m with an average gradient of about 9%, Don’t underestimate how difficult this climb is. Road surface great and minimal traffic. Cafe sign at the top if you need refreshments.
Enjoy. ❤️💪🏼🚴🏽♂️
Superb ascent, a must if you are in the region and like steep climbs. The foot is at a roundabout (see photo), then from the start the slope is very steep. The view over the Rhone valley is superb, especially in the first part of the climb, where the steepest part is also located (16%). Afterwards, the route continues to climb steadily. At the top, there is a possibility to continue to the Lein Pass, but this part of the route is much worse.
