A superb discovery! After climbing the famous Pic de Nore, I chose the Col de Salettes to return to Mazamet. It's a long climb (20km) but it's never steep. After the village of Lespinassière, the tarmac deteriorates a little (but is still very passable) and the road bends a little, but there are no difficult sections on this pass. I had quite a bit of headwind on the way up, which I think is the only factor to take into account, along with the length, of course. There are some lovely views on the way up, and the atmosphere changes constantly: between cliffs and pine trees at the start, then gradually into fern forests, but always in a calm environment with very little traffic. A real favourite!
