Desolate, wild, desolate, sweltering hot. That is the first description I had in mind when I turned onto the D619 in Catllar. On the whole climb, and until Sournia, 10 km further on, you don't even come across a stable, let alone a house. So, a golden tip : full drinking cans at the start is really no luxury . An informed man is .... worth. On almost the entire climb you have a view of the valley of the Têt and the majestic Pic du Canigou, at 2786 m one of the highest peaks in the Eastern Pyrenees.

Desolaat, woest, verlaten, broeierig heet.
