Super nice climb through the lightly forested mountain sides of the Cevennes. Just before the summit, you come into a very picturesque village with a bakery where you can get fresh croissants. At the last bend before the village, look left for a beautiful vista. You can also enter the church here, or look over the wall or past the gate into the old cemetery.

A very nice pass without too much difficulty. A climb that starts out quite cool and ends up being 2-3 km steeper. The road is very narrow and totally deserted, you almost feel like an adventurer. A good landscape awaits you at the top on the slope towards St-Martial.
I advise you to climb the Col du Mercou before arriving at the Col de l'Asclier because the descent before this pass is very nice and you will avoid taking the main roads.

This climb has an alternative that runs parallel to the D153: a shorter and steeper goat path with a road surface that you only want to go down with a MTB. However, the climb is well worth it if you like steep, desolate and rough. Don't you? Then stay away.
From Bourras the climb follows the road as it is mentioned here and that is over (quite) good road surface with a nice passage through Saint-Romain-de-Cordières.
The part before this climb, between Saint-Hyppolyte-du-Fort and Cros, along the Vidourle, is also worthwhile (although not a "real" climb).
