The climb starts in the village of Saint-Auban-sur-L'Ouveze at about'5% . The climb does not get really steep anywhere. After the village there is a short descent, after which it is climbing again. You now drive through a wide gorge. What a beautiful stretch, if you are lucky you will see vultures circling above the rocks.
Once you leave the gorge, the climb flattens out and turns to false flat. It's a long straight section and despite the few altimeters you gain on that stretch, it can be quite tough when the wind is full on.
The last stretch is again slightly steeper but then you soon reach the top at the level of the street with the winged name 'Le Col'.
If you want to do a lap you can ride straight on for a few kilometres towards Lachau, and before Lachau turn left to the Col Saint Jean and then do the Col de Perty. Both slightly tougher than the Mevouillon. After the descent of the Perty, you then end up back in Mevouillon.
