Not much to add to Franck's comment, except that the remaining kilometres to the Col de Marcieu aren't as easy as all that, in fact they're uneven but some sections are quite steep.

The climb is quite tough until you reach the Plateau des Petites Roches (~km 7.5), on a wide and relatively quiet road (apart from the commute to and from work of the Plateau's inhabitants). The rest of the route to the Col de Marcieu is irregular and much less difficult, but overall this climb is not to be underestimated.

At the pass itself there is a small ski station and an outdoor play centre for the whole family (tree climbing, etc.), as well as a well-stocked bar-restaurant. It is also a starting point for popular Chartreuse walks (Aup du Seuil, Lance de Malissard...).

Beautiful views of the valley and the Belledonne range along the way up, and of the Chartreuse peaks as you approach the pass.
