Undoubtedly the most erratic climb I've done because its course is beautiful, tough and difficult. The average gradient of 5% does not reflect the difficulty. The climb starts on the D94 where it is flat until Villeperdrix. But once in Villeperdrix you turn right and fall from one surprise into another. The road is narrow with a lot of gravel and this for a few kms. However, one after the other bends and hairpin. Suddenly the road becomes very narrow with an impressive abyss next to you ... read more

Fantastic climb from start to finish. You start from the valley of the Gorges de Saint-May and climb winding along the cliffs to the pretty village of Villeperdrix. From there, you climb on with sometimes steeper and sometimes flatter sections, and especially beautiful mountain landscapes. At the top of the col you find yourself between the mountain peaks, after which you can descend in a nice twist towards either the Col de Préguitarre or the fantastic descent along the Gorges du Léoux. Descending along the same side is less pleasant as the road is narrow and there can be some gravel in several places.

Quite a long climb with a magnificent view of the baronnies of Provence. I did it in the middle of summer and the heat can be hard to bear, with no shade. The tarmac is of average quality and traffic is fairly light.

Suddenly the road becomes very narrow with an impressive abyss next to you only separated from the road by a border of max 50 cm. Then the road suddenly goes down and then up again. A few. A few km before the top you have a flat km with some pieces downhill and then suddenly a wall uphill.
So constantly changing gears and the last km is also heavy.
But you are treated with a fantastic panorama of the most beautiful region of France " The Drome ".
An absolute must. A golden advice is to bring plenty of liquor what there is nowhere to obtain and it was hot this week and no shade.
Beware of the many loose gravel and stones on the road but no problem to do with a road bike.
