Didn't look at the profile beforehand, then that last 200 metres does break you up.
I was glad I had a 34 behind.

the tour de france is climbed this way it's harder .me I climb it by the right at the monument road of the cross of the moinats that I do just before it avoids the cars .we can climb by the valley of the chagoux at the bridge take on the left colony and we fall in the last hairpin in the middle there is a good redart in S

I've done all 3 variations of this col, but this one is insane. So steep for so long. In my opinion definitely comparable to the Redoute or Keutenberg.

I have not done this variant, but it is also boring as you can read. I did the variant from La Bresse to Gérardmer on the D486 (in La Bresse on the roundabout go in the direction of Gérardmer). Follow that road and you have a fantastic view over the valley. Then you descend a little, climb again and descend to the lake of Gérardmer. Very nice and steady climb with super views.

14-07-2018: The 28'er is your big friend here. Total explosion in your legs, watch out when you don't go up 'al dansant' and don't pull a wheelie. Epic!

Episch!

I drove the climb as it is described here by car once and I didn't like the scenery much. Especially the last part - where the climb is less difficult - I did not like the scenery. But tastes differ. I did drive up the climb via the 'normal' route and I liked it. I liked the views, the road surface was good and you see most of the other cyclists there and that is - I think - nicer cycling. I can add this climb to the list as well.

This climb in2014 ridden just before the touretappe. on the road from la Bresse to Gerardmer must somewhere turn left for a piece that is reminiscent of the worst parts of the redoubt. top right is still a piece valsplat up.

I did the climb from the other side (La Bresse) last weekend. It's not a very nice climb but it's a nice steady one. So go for it!

Knallen dus!
