This col de Chaudbonne from Villeperdrix is absolutely not doable with a road bike. Only a gravel or mountain bike can do this climb. You can climb the Chaudbonne from Sainte-Jalle-Trainte-Pas. Today, I did it on a mountain bike and that was no laughing matter. Constantly loose gravel and stones and regularly sections of 20% . With my tripple, it was raking, pumping, pulling and pushing to get on top. The attached photos are of the best part. But it is a real killer. Constantly changing g... read more

Today, I did it on a mountain bike and that was no laughing matter. Constantly loose gravel and stones and regularly sections of 20% . With my tripple, it was raking, pumping, pulling and pushing to get on top.
The attached photos are of the best part. But it is a real killer. Constantly changing gears or actually just trying to get to the top with the smallest gear. Only the first 1.5 km is to do the rest is more for Pidcock.
With the mountain bike or gravel bike an absolute must but with the road bike not done.
