Het wegdek is over het algemeen redelijk, alleen net voor en na de slagboom bij het verlaten van Eupen is het even zeer slecht (dat je denkt: waar gaat dit heen) maar dat is een stukje van hooguit 100 meter en er is meestal wel een asfaltspoor te volgen.
De klim eindigt waar het asfalt ophoudt (gaat over in soms grove gravel) maar daarvoor (net na de brug en de schuilhut) is een asfaltweggetje naar rechts wat je weer naar de hoofdweg brengt.
