Most of this ascent is covered in "klinkers", which are quite manageable on the way up, but particularly unpleasant in the opposite direction. On the other hand, it's a fairly attractive climb through a very affluent area of East Brussels, with some of the most luxurious houses in the city.
For the record, the route passes very close to the Place des Bouvreuils, where the childhood home of a certain Eddy Merckx can be found (stele and commemorative plaque in the centre of the square). His parents ran a grocery shop there.
La plus grande partie de cette ascension est revêtue de « klinkers », tout-à-fait gérables en montée, mais particulièrement désagréables dans l'autre sens. Par ailleurs, c'est un côte assez jolie qui parcourt un quartier très aisé de l'est bruxellois, avec des maisons plus luxueuses les unes que les autres.
Pour l'anecdote, on passe tout près de la Place des Bouvreuils, où se trouve la maison d'enfance d'un certain Eddy Merckx (stèle et plaque commémorative au centre de la place). Ses parents tenaient un épicerie à cet endroit.
