The hardest pass around Grenoble, a good training for the Ventoux thanks to its length and high average percentage.

The first part to the Chartreuse de Prémol/Luitel is steeper than the second part. The road is very shady and it's so much better in summer.
The interest is to go up on this side to make the descent by the road of Seiglières (descent very nice with a road in good condition).
A total of about 40 km if you do the ascent on one side and the descent on the other, from Uriage. The ascent by Prémol takes about 1h30 for a beginner like me

This climb also starts from Uriage, but outside the center. So there are two completely independent climbs arriving in Chamrousse and leaving from almost the same place... to my knowledge, Chamrousse is the only French ski resort with this particularity. One as well as the other climb have one of the highest road gradients in the region around Grenoble (more than 1300 m). The fact that this climb is wooded almost all the way up is certainly a nuisance for the views, but it is very appreciable if it is hot: you often ride in the shade. The first part, from Uriage to the Luitel pass, is quite steep in places, so you have to keep your pedal to the metal or you will break down in the second part, even if it is much more rolling.

Beautiful climb. Unfortunately much forest, few views. Not to o derachatten. The Chamrousse can also be climbed from Uriage. This was my (clear) descent. But in terms of views a lot nicer.

Mooie beklimming.

Beautiful climb, in the turns I can catch my breath. Enjoy at the top (1km below the summit) a beer in the ski resort!

Nice climb with lots of shade from the trees.
Sometimes you have to bite the teeth! On some parts you can recover.
