I knew what to expect, but when I saw that first 20％ piece looming, it was a bit of a shock. Fortunately, that is over pretty quickly and then it goes on around the 10％ with slightly flatter parts. Very nice and quiet climb.
Ik wist waar ik me aan moest verwachten, maar wanneer ik dat eerste stuk aan 20％ zag opdoemen was het toch even slikken. Dat is gelukkig wel vrij snel voorbij en daarna gaat het door rond de 10％ met iets vlakkere stukken. Heel mooie en rustige klim.
Nice climb... difficult in its first part... especially as the surface is just CATASTROPHIC ! It's a real shame... because it deserves to be climbed, so much so that I did the loop via Aywaille, in order to do a second ascent... Peacefulness guaranteed!
Belle montée… difficile dans sa première partie… d’autant plus que le revêtement y est juste CATASTROPHIQUE ! Vraiment dommage… car elle mérite d’être grimpée, à tel point que j’ai fais la boucle via Aywaille, pour enchaîner une seconde montée… Quiétude assurée !

Vanuit de vallei van de Amblève bij het opdraaien direct stevige stijgingspercentages. Vlakt wat af door het dorp waarna verdere haarspeldbocht een nieuwe steile passage inluidt. Zicht op de boom in het veld aan de rechterzijde geeft het einde van de beklimming aan.
Superb climb with some nice hairpin bends. From the valley you immediately climb quickly up between the trees. This is also the most difficult part of the climb, asphalt here is moderate. Towards the village of Chambralles it becomes slightly less steep. Do not forget to enjoy the beautiful view at the village sign.
Schitterende klim met een aantal mooie haarspeldbochten. Vanuit het dal klim je meteen rap omhoog tussen de bomen. Dit is meteen het moeilijkste gedeelte van de klim, asfalt hier matig. Richting het dorpje Chambralles wordt het iets minder steil. Vergeet bij het plaatsnaambordje niet om van het mooie uitzicht te genieten.
Comparable to the Redoute in length, a little less steep, but the stairs and close together, but much nicer.

Heavy. I cannot call it otherwise. You do your utmost to carry your momentum from the descent into the climb (watch out for traffic when you cross the main road), but that seems a stupid plan after twenty metres. You probably have the bike too heavy at this moment. Until the first turn the road seems to go straight up. I have cycled the Chambralles about five times now and the difficulty of this part varied from moment to moment. When it is very hot (heatwave 2019, 40 degrees), this part, sheltered by the trees, is a relief, although it still rises steeply. Overall, the climb besides heavy also just very beautiful. It is only at the very top that you can start thinking about an outer blade to quickly take seconds on your cycling mates - if your calves still allow it at least.
Zwaar. Anders kan ik het niet noemen. Je doet je uiterste best om je vaart uit de afdaling mee te nemen de klim in (wel even opletten voor verkeer als je de grote weg oversteekt), maar dat lijkt na twintig meter al een onnozel plan. Waarschijnlijk heb je hem ook nog veel te zwaar staan op dit moment. Tot de eerste bocht lijkt de weg recht omhoog te gaan. Ik heb de Chambralles nu een keer of vijf gefietst en hoe zwaar dit stuk was, verschilde per moment. Als het bloedheet is (hittegolf 2019, 40 graden),is dit door de bomen beschutte stuk een verademing, al stijgt het nog steeds fors. Overall is de klim naast zwaar ook gewoon erg mooi. Het is pas wel helemaal bovenaan dat je aan een buitenblad kunt gaan denken om snel nog even seconden op je fietsmaten te pakken - als je kuiten dat nog toestaan althans.

The Chambralles is a beautiful climb. If you come from Comblain-au-Pont, and you have been riding along the Amblève river for a long time (read: flat), it can hurt quite a bit to turn right. At the top you are rewarded with a view to dream away with. And to let your legs rest for a while.
De Chambralles is een prachtige klim. Als je vanuit Comblain-au-Pont, en je dus een hele tijd langs de Amblève hebt gereden (lees: vlak), dan kan het best pijn doen om rechts op te draaien. En ja, het is steil. Héél steil! Je hebt nauwelijks de kans om even op je zadel te gaan zitten. Gelukkig duurt het niet al te lang en is het een prachtige klim. Boven wordt je beloond met een uitzicht om bij weg te dromen. En om de benen even tot rust te laten komen.

De Chambralles is een pittig ding! Het begint vrij steil tot je bij de haarspeldbocht bent. Daarna vlakt het iets af om richting het eind weer boven de 10％ te gaan. De klim is altijd rustig, je komt zelden een auto tegen. Wie van korte steile klimmetjes houdt mag deze niet overslaan!
