Once you’ve passed this section, the going remains tough, but on brand-new tarmac. When you reach the summit, you’re 2 km from the village of Polopos. Instead of descending on the same side, I’d recommend continuing for another 1.5 km on the dirt track until the concrete reappears; where you have the option of going round the village and joining the road that climbs from Castillo de Baños (La Guapa) to Haza del Lino. Alternatively, you can cycle through the village and top up your water at the fountain in the village square; from there, it’s about 7.6 km at a 6.5 per cent gradient to the summit of Haza del Lino – widely regarded as one of the toughest mountain passes in Spain and Europe.
Vertiente nueva y la mas dura para subir al Haza del Lino, tiene unos 500 metros de tierra compactada antes de iniciar el tramo de cemento que tiene unos 2.4 km y que es durisimo, una vez pasado este tramo sigue la dureza, pero con un asfalto totalmente nuevo. Cuando coronas, estas a 2 km de la poblacion de Polopos, te recomiendo en vez de bajar por el mismo lado seguir 1.5 km de nuevo de tierra hasta que vuelve aparecer el cemento, alli tienes la opcion de rodear el pueblo y salir a la carretera que sube desde Castillo de Baños (La Guapa) al Haza del Lino. Tambien puedes cruzar el pueblo y llenar agua en la fuente de la plaza del pueblo, desde alli te quedaran unos 7.6 km al 6.5% hasta la cima del Haza del Lino, Dicho asi uno de los puertos mas duros de España y Europa.
