A challenging climb that starts off from the A470 roundabout at a brutal gradient that eases off once past the Golf Course, but then just gets steeper and steeper. The climb and gradient reveals itself at each bend so you never get a view of the whole climb or what is around the corner. If you’re on a gravel bike then you can go even further up to the top of the mountain. Road surface is very good and there is little traffic but plenty of sheep once you pass the top cattle grid.
I've cycled this climb a few times. The views from the top are worth the pain.
Recently we did it as a training ride with my 10 and 8 yr old. they both manage it but the steep section is just before a blind left hand corner which is a bit stressful as a parent.
