Not too difficult and fun climb from Vroenhoven to the plateau above Eben-Emael. Although you are in Belgian Limburg you imagine yourself in Flanders where you have similar climbs and surroundings. On 18/8/24 there was a lot of water on two flat spots on the plateau which could not flow away after big downpours.
Niet te zware en leuke klim vanuit Vroenhoven naar het plateau boven Eben-Emael. Hoewel je in Belgisch Limburg bent waan je je in Vlaanderen waar je soortgelijke klimmetjes en omgeving hebt. Op 18/8/24 lag er op twee vlakke plekken op het plateau veel water wat na grote plensbuien niet weg kon stromen.
Nice climb from Vroenhoven. First a steeper part along the houses and then turn right. Where the forest ends on the left side you see the road rising nicely in front of you but the route goes left here and takes a different - and nicer - climb. Towards the end, the road rises again a little more to a T-junction where you turn left to the end point: a reconstruction of the "Death Wire" from World War I. From here you have a nice view of the forest and the surroundings. From here also nice views of a part of the route. Not hard, but long, quiet and walking on good concrete roads.
Leuke klim vanuit Vroenhoven. Eerst een steiler stukje met links beneden het kanaal en daarna rechtsaf. Waar aan de linkerkant het bos ophoudt zie je de weg leuk voor je stijgen maar de route gaat hier links en pakt een andere - en mooiere - klim. Tegen het eind stijgt de weg weer iets meer tot een T-splitsing waarna je linksaf gaat tot het eindpunt: een reconstructie van de "Dodendraad" uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Hiervandaan ook aardig uitzicht op een deel van de afgelegde route. Niet zwaar, wel lang, heerlijk rustig en lopend over goede betonwegen.
