What has been said before, good combo after the Pont d'Espagne. But if you only ride this climb because of the tour history, you won't be very happy.
Nice climb with little traffic and a road in excellent condition. The first 3.5km are wooded after which beautiful landscapes appear. The first mile and a half is the hardest in my opinion after which the hairpins help to recover, as does the small descent before the last mile. Can be extended by another 10km or so of more rolling terrain (listed on Climbfinder) if you are not sensitive to heavy traffic.
Beautiful short climb to Le Cambasque, which has been the explosive finish of the Tour/Vuelta several times, with Indurain and Virenque as winners, cycled from tourist Cauterets.
Directly after cycling out of the town towards Pont d'Espagne you leave the main road at your right.
A series of 9 hairpin bends will let you wind up the mountainside through the forest, sometimes with a steep 10%.
Then you come to an open plateau and the fairly straight road follows the mountain river to end up on the parking lot of the lifts of the Cirque de Lys ski resort, which are abandoned in the summer and are also the starting point of high-mountain walks.
