The climb to the Col du Pirs begins almost immediately after the village of Villa de Mazo. Coming from the main road, turn off in the direction of "Nambroque". You won't see Col du Pirs written anywhere here. This is what the pass is affectionately called by the locals of Palermo.
From this junction, the ascent stretches over 5.15 kilometres, climbing 395 metres in altitude, which corresponds to an average gradient of 7.7 percent. The pass ends in a shady cul-de-sac where you can take a break from the Canarian heat under the pine trees after the climb. During the ascent, you'll have a great view of the Atlantic again and again.
This climb is a real insider tip, no traffic, good tarmac and with the good gradient percentages, it is also ideal for ambitious racing cyclists for training intervals. In addition, the pass is relatively short at just under 5 kilometres compared to the otherwise long uphill sections on the island of La Palma.
