This wall is climbed very often in Spanish races. Not only by the professionals in the Tour of Asturias but especially by the youth categories. This climb is also called the Balagué climb by the inhabitants of Asturias after the Spanish climber Jose Balagué whose parental home on top of this mountain is in the hamlet of Carabanzo, a village of 220 inhabitants but with a legendary climber from the 60s and 70s as its most famous inhabitant who rode for renowned Spanish teams such as BIC, Werner, La Casera and Super Ser and ended his career in 1977 with the legendary Teka team from Cantabria. Balagué was especially a master mechanic in the mountains for Jose Luis Abilleira, Luis Ocana, Andres Oliva and Pedro Torres, among others. If you are in the area you should definitely do this climb, but make sure you use a small gear because otherwise you will break your legs.
