The grade is a mix between perfect climb difficulty. The traffic excellent apart from at the weekend. The view at the top fascinating. You can often also see Milan with its skyscrapers in the distance. At the top there is a drinking fountain that is often out of use. The poor grade is for the indecent state of the road. Especially the last km after the old hotel. Practically an expanse of pebbles that risk puncturing the tyres and the road is always badly maintained. Bad publicity for the city of Varese, which claims to be bike friendly... If it weren't for the 2-star view...
Il voto è un mix tra difficoltà della salita perfetta. Il traffico ottimo a parte nel week-end. La vista in cima affascinante. Spesso si vede in lontananza anche Milano coi suoi grattacieli. In cima c'è una fontanella che spesso è fuori uso. Il voto scarso è per l indecente stato della strada . Specialmente l'ultimo km dopo il vecchio albergo. Praticamente una distesa di sassolini che rischiano di forare le gomme e strada sempre mal tenuta. Una pessima pubblicità per la città di Varese che si spaccia come bike friendly... Se non fosse per la vista da 2 stelle...
A very nice climb that demanded a lot from me. The road suffered a lot during the last storm. Every kilometre is signposted with gradients and metres in altitude. I cycled very early in the morning, so there was no traffic. Well worth it.
Sehr schöner Anstieg, der mir einiges Abverlangt hat. Die Straße hat beim letzten Sturm ganz schön gelitten. Jeder Kilometer ist beschildert mit Steigung und Höhenmeter. Bin ganz früh morgens gefahren, da war kein Verkehr. Lohnt sich.
A beautiful route, well worth the drive. Not a bad road, although the tarmac is badly eroded at the end. A view not to be forgotten. During the descent, you have to be very careful of potholes in the road and motorcyclists suddenly appearing.
Piękna trasa, warto wjechać. Droga niezła, choć na końcu asfalt mocno zniszczony. Widok nie do zapomnienia. W czasie zjazdu trzeba bardzo uważać na dziury w jezdni i pojawiających się nagle motocyklistów.
A mountain I am fond of. It is well worth the trip to the top, perhaps on a clear autumn day. When you arrive at the observatory gate, do NOT make the mistake of stopping. You press a button and the gate opens. The last stretch is then the most challenging of the entire climb. The view from the summit sweeps over the entire Insubria region, from the Apennines to the Swiss Alps.
Una montagna a cui sono affezionato. Vale la pena di percorrerla fino in cima, magari in una giornata limpida d'autunno. Quando arrivate al cancello dell'osservatorio NON fate l'errore di fermarvi. Si preme un pulsante e il cancello si apre. L'ultimo tratto è poi il più impegnativo dell'intera salita. La vista dalla cima spazia sull'intera Insubria, dagli Appennini alle Alpi svizzere.
Nice climb, a classic for Varese and Varese people. Quite challenging gradients, route through wooded areas and at the top the reward of a beautiful view.
Bella salita, un classico per i varesini e i varesotti. Pendenze abbastanza impegnative, percorso in mezzo ad aree boscate ed in cima il premio di una bellissima vista.
At the end of the Belvedere climb (panoramic benches) I suggest continuing past the gate, if it is closed there is a button to open it. Afterwards, passing a ramp with maximum gradient peaks between 18％-20％ you will reach the Astronomical Observatory summit 1227 metres. Further advice is to load the bike on your shoulders to climb the short protected staircase that leads to the balcony overlooking the N slope of Campo dei Fiori where the view sweeps over the Alps. Another excellent vantage point is the Piazzale della Batteria following the signs "Palestra di Roccia" the asphalt is uneven in places.
Al termine della cronoscalata del Belvedere (panchine panoramiche) suggerisco proseguire superando il cancello, qualora fosse chiuso c'è un pulsante per aprire. Dopodiché superando una rampa con picchi di pendenza massima tra il 18％-20％ si raggiunge l'Osservatorio Astronomico vetta 1227 metri. Ulteriore consiglio caricare in spalla la bici per salire la breve scalinata protetta che conduce sul balcone che si affaccia sul versante N del Campo dei Fiori dove la vista spazia sulle Alpi. Altro ottimo punto panoramico è il Piazzale della Batteria seguendo i cartelli "Palestra di Roccia", con pendenza essendo in qualche punto dissestato l'asfalto.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars just for the views along the way, a route that is particularly recommended on a clear and calm day, so as to have the best possible panorama. In itself, the ascent is fairly regular, with no particularly steep points, and is pleasantly shady. I recommend continuing your route from the arrival point to the observatory, if it is open, where the climb is particularly steep. In the photos I also posted a platter of cold meats and cheeses, as a just reward for the effort made 😇😊. Taken at a bar and restaurant very close to the end of the route.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stelle solo per la vista che si gode durante il tragitto e nel suo bel vedere, tragitto particolarmente consigliato in giornate limpide e serene, così d'avere il miglior panorama possibile. Di per se la salita è abbastanza regolare, senza punti particolarmente ripidi, ed è piacevolmente ombreggiata. Consiglio, di proseguire il vostro tragitto dal punto d'arrivo, fino all'Osservatorio, qualora fosse aperto, li la salita è particolarmente scoscesa. Nelle foto ho postato anche un tagliere di salumi e formaggi, come giusta ricompensa per la fatica fatta 😇😊. Presi in un bar ristorante lì molto vicino alla fine del percorso.
A very nice and tough climb to a nice viewpoint. You climb for a large part through a beautiful forest with a good reward at the end. Unfortunately, you cannot cycle through and will have to turn around again but it is well worth the climb and the view.
Een hele mooie en pittige klim naar een mooi uitzichtpunt. Je klimt een groot deel door een mooi bos met aan het einde een goede beloning. Helaas kan je niet doorfietsen en zal je weer om moeten keren maar het is de klim en het uitzicht zeker waard.
