Enjoy this magnificent roller coaster of a climb that takes you up into wild, remote, country. Save it for a good weather day as it could be really bleak up there in the cloud and rain. There are two big descents on the climb which add to overall character of the route as it rolls through the open moorland. There are four gates on the climb (and a 5th just after the top) but the climb is long enough that they don't feel a hindrance. The road surface is excellent (if you ignore the copious sheep poo) and vehicles a rarity.
