It's a bit epic, Ruckler's Lane (becoming Bulstrode Lane). You start through houses, go into a wooded part, under the A41 and then it narrows, becoming quite stony in the middle. Once that's over you emerge into beautiful countryside before dropping into that dip and beginning the Bulstrode Lane section which is still narrow and stony, and climbs between hedges. There are enough passing places and generally speaking the cars aren't a problem, although there are very places where cars from behind can get past you, Traffic's usually pretty light though, this is not a rat run. Of all the routes from the valley up to the Bovingdon - Chipperfield road, this is probably the best, taking all factors into account. The Felden roads are super-narrow and flood, the Chipperfield road is busy. Ruckler's Lane strikes a balance, and it's good to ride.
