There's a few different routes out of Kendal heading west. This is a frequent start to my rides. Out of Kendal it's steep, but not overly so. Thenes there's a good stretch of flat and downhill past the old racecourse. Then a gentle ramp through Warriners wood that just keeps going gently up until you reach the summit shortly before Helsington church
