If you're into draggy climbs, Box Lane is a must do. It's a bit of a classic Chiltern valley climb, increasing in gradient as you go up, but never steep. One where you can get your head down and work at it. But don't get your head down so much that you can't enjoy the scenery as you go up. Sheethanger Common, especially, off to the left lower down, is very picturesque, and the woodlands that come afterwards are airy and light. Sheethanger Common, especially, off to the left lower down, is very picturesque, and the woodlands that come afterwards are airy and light. The traffic is the only real drawback here, and although this is a B road it's the main route between Hemel and Chesham. As such you can encounter some heavy commercial traffic in the weekdays. Better at weekends or early / late. The surface is ok, more of a problem in descent when you're hitting the bumps and holes at high speed.
