The Bola del Mundo or world globe is actually the spur of the puerto de Navacerrada.
The Bola del Mundo is also called the Alto de las Guerramillas by the Spaniards and is a short but very steep thing.
It is just over 3 km long but with sections up to 18 +％ and sometimes over several tens of metres well over 20％;
It is a narrow concrete track straight to the famous antennas of the Spanish TV . The antennas used to be specially placed for TVE and the first and only program was Bola del Mundo published by TVE.
In 2010 it was climbed for the first time in the Vuelta and it was a thriller between Vincente Nibali and Ezequiel Mozquera . At one point Mozquera had a minute lead but almost collapsed and Nibali came to within a few meters of Mozquera who won the stage but Nibali the Vuelta.
In 2012 Menshov won before Porte.
No cars were allowed to go up because of the narrow road and the steepness and at the top there is absolutely no place for anything , even the podium ceremony is in Navacerrada.

De Bola del Mundo wordt door de spanjaarden ook wel de Alto de las Guerramillas genoemd en is een kort maar verschrikkelijk steil ding.
Hij is iets meer dan 3 km lang maar met stukken tot 18 +％ en soms over enkele tientallen meters ruim boven de 20％;
Het is een smalle betonbaan rechtdoor naar de beroemde antennes van de Spaanse tv . De antennes werden vroeger speciaal geplaatst voor TVE en het eerste en enige programma was Bola del Mundo dat werd uitgegeven door TVE.
In 2010 werd hij voor het eerst beklommen in de Vuelta en het was een triller tussen Vincente Nibali en Ezequiel Mozquera . Op een bepaald moment had Mozquera een minuut voorsprong maar storte bijna in en Nibali kwam nog tot enkele meters van Mozquera die de rit won maar Nibali de Vuelta.
In 2012 won Mensjov voor Porte.
Er mochten geen auto's naar boven vanwege de smalle weg en de steiltegraad en boven is totaal geen plaats voor iets , zelfs de podiumceremonie is in Navacerrada.
