I found the stretch of bad road surface not too bad - especially by Walloon standards, although some of it is an asphalted cart track. Taking it easy here is no punishment because the scenery is very beautiful. Until then, you are still between houses where it goes up very steeply. As soon as you enter the small road, it becomes more hilly with some nasty bits in between.

The warning about a bad road surface is not for nothing, as it is indeed not in the best shape. This is probably why we encountered a mountain biker, as the local cycling fanatics probably avoid this road. Unjustly so, because the views along the way are magnificent and you can enjoy the silence in the forest. A beautiful hidden gem as far as I'm concerned. Once out of the forest, the road slopes up and down, forcing you to pedal hard every now and then. It reminded me a bit of Les Waides at times. I like it!
