The climb, which starts out hard, actually softens up and allows you to enjoy a beautiful panorama with the constant and imposing presence of the Bernina glacier.
An ascent to be repeated!

Great road through a beautiful landscape with views of a glacier and the Bernina Express. You can only in the beginning to a bike path so you will have to live with the fast cars. Good road surface though and a beautiful scenery.

Recommended to take the Forcola di Livigno at the top, where the road becomes quiet and the landscape even more beautiful!

The route along the easy side of the Swiss Bernina pass is mainly along wide straight roads with few curves in a wide open valley (wind!) with on both sides an impressive high mountain scenery with snowy peaks and glaciers (a.o. the well known Morteratch glacier).
You cycle along the cable lift stations of Diavolezza and Lagalb and the red Bernina express mountain train (Chur-Tirano) follows the same route and regularly rides along the road and crosses the route several times. There are no high gradients, only in the middle and the last kilometers there are some steeper sections with some hairpin bends, but there is unpleasantly fast and heavy traffic!

Wide busy road with high mountains in the background.
