Bell Lane doesn't connect with other routes as well as Stoney Lane, which is why I don't use it so much, but it's sometimes good to take the easy option. Traffic is light, probably lighter than Stoney Lane, and surface is fine. All this said, it's a good climb, and worth a detour to experience, even if it's short.
