It's a nice road, you get views up towards Gallows Hill (on the eastern spur from Ivinghoe Beacon), and down into one or two small valleys below the road. This isn't the classical approach to the Ivinghoe Beacon climb, but turning right once over the brow to go all the way up is always good. There's a local hilly time trial, the Sid Latchford, that does just this, having already been up Bison.
However any traverse of the B489 over the side of Ivinghoe Beacon, and beyond, is great.
