This is serious stuff! More than the 440 points would suggest. The road is very clean. It's a sustained effort practically the whole way. Sore lower back...

The entire chemin de la Bastille, or the most direct and steepest way up to the Bastille by road! :-)
Right from the start, a narrow, steep alley weaving its way between two rows of houses on the border between Grenoble and La Tronche, you're in for a tough ride and there's no respite until you reach the top, apart from a temporary dip in the gradient two hairpin bends before the finish.
Purists will prefer this start to the traditional one at La Tronche town hall, further north and slightly higher up.

Dès le début, une ruelle étroite en forte pente se faufilant entre deux rangées d'habitations à la limite entre Grenoble et La Tronche, on est dans le dur et il n'y aura plus de répit jusqu'au sommet, à part une baisse provisoire de pente deux lacets avant l'arrivée.
Les puristes préfèreront ce départ-là au départ traditionnel de la mairie de La Tronche située plus au nord et légèrement plus haut.
