An amazing climb - it is difficult, but also strangely, very relaxing at the same time, set in typical Mediterranean forest, all you hear is the gentle wind in the trees (and the legs screaming a bit). This is a good one if you are fit enough, but certainly not for the beginner. The reward at the end is a flat 100 m or so, the trees open up to a paved balcony area with breath taking views over the region.

The Balcon de Alicante is a typical Spanish climb, not too long and alternating from false flat to super steep.
The 6.4 % average is absolutely not a correct representation of this climb.
The first half of this climb is easy to do with the big mill but you better not do that because in the second half you need all your strength not to stand still.
Once you leave the main road and turn left, you don't only get a super narrow path with beautiful new asphalt, but also a wall.
This wall is very steep to the top with regularly short stretches above 20 meters. But at the top, the effort is rewarded with beautiful views of the surroundings. In this warm region, the second part also offers a lot of shade while the part on the main road is in full sun.
In short, an absolute must if you're in the area.
