The first pyrenean col I ever cycled, in 1992 during my cycling holiday. The road was narrow, barely more than a cycle path, but perfectly paved. Even with a touring bike with 20 kg of luggage, the road goes up nice and smoothly.
Coming from the main road, the passage through Erratzu is bizarrely narrow and you can hope you don't get oncoming traffic. After that, the climb is lovely and quiet with beautiful views over the valley.
