Absolutely loved this climb - it was a real highlight of a family holiday to the area.
I'd travelled from Greoux Les Bains and parked at Riez to do a 90KM loop - this was the highest point of the lap before I headed back.
I arrived at the bottom around 9am on an August morning and it was probably already 28˚C, so I was grateful for any shade I could find on the way. Thankfully, there are quite a lot of parts in the middle that offer a break from the sun.
The first section from Aguimes feels exposed to the sun but it's all nice surface and a a steady gradient. There are the odd pitches up to 7-8% but in general it hovers around 6%.
The balcony road at the top and the hairpins are amazing and the views out across the lake and the gorge are on another level.

Before the village of Aiguines it is doable, after the village then it gets really tough. All in all, a super nice climb with very nice views. And just before the top on the right side of the road there is indeed a little fountain where you can fill your water bottles, even if it's the middle of summer.

After 130 km in the legs I found this climb very hard. The first half is fine, but when you're over halfway the percentages keep rising. If you are fresh it will not be so bad, if you are tired this is a long killer.
But she is worth it! This is a beautiful climb that treats you to ever more beautiful views on that second section. Please take the time to grab a viewpoint every now and then and look into the gorge. Impressive is an understatement. You can't escape the tourist traffic here, but in the middle of the summer holidays I didn't find it too busy. 500 meters before the top is a source on the right with ice cold running water for the head and the bottle.
