A climb fluctuating in gradients. The first ample kilometre is false flat. Then follows a kilometre where the gradient goes up and down a bit. After more than 2 kilometres the steepest part of the climb (approx. 400 m) follows. After this it flattens out again towards the top.

In Warsage, be careful not to miss the start of the climb. The climb is certainly not steep and mostly runs between houses. After Neufchateau the climb is false flat up to the main road. Especially with an east wind, this false flat can feel much steeper as it is open here. To the right, however, there are nice views towards the valley. You do get quite a lot of altitude metres here (122), which is quite something in the Netherlands.

The start of this climb takes just a bit too long. From Warsage you go up between the houses and out of the village. At the roundabout left and then the percentages go up and you start to feel the climb. After a short quiet stretch through Aubin (passing an American war monument) you can start pushing until you reach the road to the fort. Then a flat part with nice views to the right and a final climb.
The second part is varied and nice, but the run up to it is quite long. On the other hand, this already makes for slightly tired legs after which you will feel the rest of the climb a bit more.
