Cycled this fantastic route by gravel bike in late July 2023 starting in Oulx. The first 25 km are a gift, as they are downhill. Then the fun begins with the ascent of the Finestre. The succession of hairpin bends through the forest are great and make the constant 9％ gradient bearable. When the 'tornanti' are exhausted, things get a lot trickier. The difficulty increases all the way when the gravel section starts. It is toiling up to the top, but the phenomenal views still leave you room to fully enjoy. The rest of the route is less spectacular, except for the final ascent. Via the Col de l'Echelle, you quietly leave France and end up back in Italy. In short, a beautiful, challenging route with the Finestre as the organ point!
Deze fantastische route met de gravelbike gefietst eind juli 2023 met start in Oulx. De eerste 25 km krijg je zo kado, want deze zijn in dalende lijn. Daarna begint de pret met de beklimming van de Finestre. De opeenvolging van haarspeldbochten door het bos zijn geweldig en maken de constante helling van 9％ draaglijk. Wanneer de 'tornanti' uitgeput zijn, wordt het een stuk lastiger. De lastigheidsgraad neemt helemaal toe wanneer de gravelsectie begint. Het is zwoegen tot de top, maar de fenomenale uitzichten laten je toch de ruimte om vol te genieten. De restant van de route is minder spectaculair, met uitzondering van de laatste beklimming. Via de Col de l'Echelle verlaat je Frankrijk in alle rust en belandt je opnieuw in Italië. Kortom, een prachtige, uitdagende route met de Finestre als orgelpunt!
